The city of Lilburn, GA, is located in Gwinnett County, nearly 20 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta. Home to a population of almost 13,000 people, Lilburn covers 6.3 square miles of land as a suburb of the Atlanta metro area.
The community was founded in 1890 by the Seaboard Air Line Railroad, and the city of Lilburn was incorporated 20 years later, in 1910. The original city folded after hard times of the 1920s, but in recent years the historic downtown area has undergone major revitalization that’s been called a “slice of history.” Today, Lilburn lives by the motto “Small town. Big difference,” housing a new city hall and library, as well as a large Hindu temple. An arts festival and Christmas parade are among the city’s annual events.
